Teaching
I have been qualified as a BHS Instructor for over 20 years, and I am on their Register of Instructors and fully insured. I enjoy teaching all types and ages of people and helping them to improve their confidence and ability in their chosen discipline on a one to one basis, whether that is dressage, show jumping or eventing. But equally you do not have to compete to be able to benefit from instruction. I also teach at The Pony Club and adult clinics.
I have competed in Eventing (up to CCI* level) Show Jumping (up to 1m 30) and dressage (up to advanced medium level) on horses that I have trained on from the just backed stage. I have also competed some horses on behalf of owners. At the moment I am producing a four year old that I backed last year and hope he will go on to jump the four year old age classes later on this year.
On occasions people come for lessons if their horse isn’t going well. This can sometimes be because the horse is in pain, which is where the Equine Bowen can overlap with the teaching. It’s not just a case of being able to recognise what the problem is, it is also knowing what I can do to be able to help resolve it.
